Entertainment, as one of the important cultural products in the contemporary era, plays an effective role in achieving family functions in a favorable or unfavorable manner. The effects of entertainment in this regard are deep, long-term and sometimes unconscious in many cases. Therefore, one of the important concerns of those who care about culture is to preserve the functions of the family in the face of the damage caused by these entertainments and to take advantage of its possible benefits. The current research is to find the Islamic point of view in this field with descriptive and analytical method.
In this research, the following results were obtained: modern entertainment has overshadowed the functions of the family in many cases; Some of the negative effects of these entertainments are: subjugating and controlling public opinion towards the will of capitalists and persuading and spreading beliefs against family interests, substituting for family duties and helping to escape from family responsibilities, creating false needs in the family, pornography, mental illnesses in family members through the creation of instant and aimless happiness and addiction to entertainment; Also, in case of proper use of modern entertainment, some of the desirable effects in this regard are: making public opinion obedient and leading to Islamic teachings about the family such as hijab, sexual segregation, zeal and sexual chastity, creating self-fulfillment, relaxation, draining disturbing emotions. and increasing the power of thinking
